USU EXTENSION SPONSORS SUCCESSFUL SITTER DAY CAMP

LOGAN – Utah State University Extension 4-H in Salt Lake County presents the second annual “Successful Sitter Day Camp,” June 25 to 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 South State Street, south building, room S1010.

The camp provides education for youth who watch siblings or who are interested in starting their own babysitting business. It also provides tips for becoming capable, caring and responsible babysitters.

“The Successful Sitter Camp is a great place for youth to improve skills and knowledge in working with children and also a place to learn and have fun,” said Ashley Anderson, USU Extension family and consumer sciences intern. “The skills learned will help make those who attend become the favorite babysitter on the block.”

Anderson will teach the class with Marilyn Albertson, USU Extension family and consumer sciences associate professor. The day camp will be geared toward youth ages 10 to 14. Over the three-day course, a babysitting kit will be assembled by participants and will include such items as healthy snack recipes, first aid and safety skills information, fun activities and appropriate music and stories for children.

Youth who register for the day camp will be registered for 4-H and may enter their babysitting kit in the Salt Lake County Fair, held Aug. 7 to 10. Cost for the three-day camp is $30 per person.
