Utah State University Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced that USU will begin the 2014 football season at Tennessee as the Aggies and Volunteers will meet Saturday, Aug. 30 at 102,455 seat Neyland Stadium.

Utah State University Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced Friday [Aug. 9, 2013] that USU will begin the 2014 football season at Tennessee as the Aggies and Volunteers will meet Saturday, Aug. 30, at 102,455 seat Neyland Stadium.

Utah State was originally scheduled to play at Tennessee Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014.

“We are pleased with the opportunity to move the Tennessee game to the first week of the 2014 season,” said Barnes. “It simply works better in every aspect of our schedule. I appreciate working with Tennessee Athletic Director Dave Hart to get this done.”

Utah State and Tennessee will be meeting for the first-time ever in 2014. All-time, USU is 1-16 against current members of the Southeastern Conference as it is 1-2 against Kentucky; 0-1 against Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M; 0-2 against Alabama and LSU; 0-3 against Arkansas; and 0-4 against Missouri.

The last time Utah State played a team from the SEC was on Sept. 3, 2011, when it lost at defending national champion Auburn, 42-38. USU's only win against an SEC school was on Oct. 10, 1970, when it won at Kentucky, 35-6.
