Despite its season-opening 30-26 loss at Utah, Utah State [University] football is still receiving national attention as it garnered one vote in the latest USA Today coaches' poll released Tuesday [Sept. 3] to rank tied for 43rd in the nation.

Prior to its season opener, USU garnered 23 top-25 votes in the USA Today preseason coaches' poll to rank 35th nationally and eight votes in the Associate Press preseason poll to rank 37th in the nation.

Three other Mountain West members are among those schools receiving votes in the latest USA Today coaches' poll. Fresno State received 46 votes to rank 29th, San Jose State received 12 votes to rank tied for 33rd and Boise State received five votes to rank tied for 37th. Non-conference opponent USC is currently ranked 22nd in the latest USA Today coaches' poll with 176 votes and 25th in the latest AP poll with 135 votes.

Utah State will play at USC and at San Jose State in back-to-back road games Saturday, Sept. 21, and Friday, Sept. 27, and host Boise State Saturday, Oct. 12. USU's game at SJSU will be televised nationally on ESPN at 7 p.m. (MT), while its home game against BSU will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network at 6 p.m. (MT). A kick-off time and television distributor for the USC game is yet to be announced.

Utah State will play its first-ever Mountain West game this weekend at Air Force (1-0) Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network (Comcast Ch. 269/753HD, Dish Network Ch. 158, DirecTV Ch. 221).
