Another Honor for Keeton: 'Beyond Sports' National Quarterback of the Week

Utah State [University] quarterback Chuckie Keeton has been named a National Quarterback of the Week by Beyond Sports Network.

 

The Beyond Sports Network gives out weekly awards to the top offensive line, defense, offensive players, defensive players and special teams players among the FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA teams.

 

Keeton shares this week's quarterback title with Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater.

 

Keeton, a 6-2, 200-pound junior from Houston, Texas, (Cypress Creek HS) tied his own school record with five touchdown passes (30, 23, 20, 36, 1) in handing Air Force its worst home loss since 2005. Against the Falcons, he completed a career-high 32 passes and tied his career-high with 40 pass attempts, while throwing for 360 yards, which is the second-most in his career. Keeton also rushed for a game-high 77 yards on just eight carries, including a 30-yard run, to become the 25th player in school history and just second quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards in a career.

 

On the season, Keeton ranks first in the Mountain West (MW) and third in the nation in total offense (418.0 ypg), second in the MW and tied for sixth in the nation in completions (31.5), first in the MW and 20th in the nation in passing efficiency (175.9), second in the MW and 10th in the nation in passing (337.0 ypg), and sixth in the MW and 60th in the nation in rushing (81.0 ypg).

 

In the annual Homecoming game, Utah State plays at home for the first time this season this weekend when the Aggies host in-state foe Weber State at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
