USU Extension Sponsors Urban and Small Farms Conference

 

            LOGAN - Utah State University Extension sponsors the 2014 Urban and Small Farms Conference Wednesday, Feb. 19, and Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Thanksgiving Point Gardens Visitor Center, 3900 N. Garden Drive in Lehi. An Organic Growing Workshop is featured the first day and breakout sessions the second day.

 

Breakout session topics include vegetables, protected cultivation, farm to table, aquaponics, management and land leasing, and challenges and opportunities in selling local meat and poultry. The Utah Berry Growers Association meetings are held on Thursday morning.

 

According to conference organizer Katie Wagner, USU Extension assistant professor of horticulture, Salt Lake County, the conference will attract a broad range of local food enthusiasts.

 

            Registration fee is $20 per day if paid by Feb. 12 and $30 per day after that date.
