USU Extension Sponsors Utah Farm-Chef-Fork Workshop

LOGAN — Utah State University Extension sponsors the Utah Farm-Chef-Fork workshop, “Sourcing Local Foods on the Wasatch Front,” on Monday, March 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake County Extension Office, 2001 South State Street, Suite S-1200 in Salt Lake City.

According to Kynda Curtis, USU Extension agricultural marketing specialist and conference organizer, the workshop is designed for agricultural producers who are looking to start or expand their restaurant sales and chefs who are looking to source locally.  The program aims to improve knowledge and facilitate communication and collaboration to enhance local food sourcing in Northern Utah.

Workshop topics include: marketing farm products to chefs; pricing fresh produce for the restaurant market; food safety and good agricultural practices; and winter growing techniques, issues and product success. A networking activity will be held during lunch, and there will be a chef panel discussing preferred products and preferences on communication, delivery and samples.

Cost for the workshop is $15 and includes lunch and materials. For further information, contact Kynda Curtis at kynda.curtis@usu.eduor 435-797-0444. Registration is available at http://farmcheffork2014.eventbrite.com.
