USU Extension 4-H “Purple Up! for Military Kids” Event Tuesday, April 15

 

April is the national Month of the Military Child and is designated as a time to recognize and honor youth impacted by military deployment. Utah State University Extension 4-H and Utah Operation: Military Kids (OMK) invite Utahns to participate in the national “Purple Up! for Military Kids” community awareness event on Tuesday, April 15, by wearing purple that day to show support for the youth.

 

Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, and is the combination of Army green, Air Force blue, Coast Guard blue, Marine red and Navy blue.

 

Approximately 13,000 youth in Utah live with a service member. The goal of the Operation: Military Kids program is to connect military children and youth with local resources to achieve a sense of community support and enhance the youth’s well-being.

 

“I’m sure that each one of us personally knows a child with a parent in the military,” said Rachelle Greenhalgh, USU Extension Operation: Military Kids project director. “We admire the strength of their resilient spirit and we honor their bravery. This event is a way to show our support for their sacrifice.”
