Multiple Utah State University athletes have been named to a variety of pre-season watch lists and as award candidates. Below is a recent roundup from the Athletics website.

 

Utah State's Chuckie Keeton Named To Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List

 

Utah State [University] senior Chuckie Keeton is one of 39 Football Bowl Subdivision players named to the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List that was announced Wednesday [July 16, 2014].

 

Overall, it is the second time in as many years that Keeton has been named to the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List.

Chuckie Keeton Named Candidate for 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

 

Utah State [University] senior quarterback Chuckie Keeton has been listed as a candidate for the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, announced by the Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Tuesday [July 15, 2014].

 

This year's list includes a record-breaking 182 nominees from around the country.

 

For 23 years the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team has served as one of the most coveted and prestigious off-the-field honors in college football. The award recognizes players whose charitable involvement and community service contributions stand out among all other student-athletes participating in the sport. In order to meet the criteria set forth by Allstate and the AFCA, each player must be actively involved and committed to working with a charitable organization, service group or community service while maintaining a strong academic standing.

Utah State's Kyler Fackrell and Zach Vigil Named To Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List

 

Utah State [University] linebackers Kyler Fackrell and Zach Vigil have been named to the 2014 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, it was announced Monday [July 14, 2014] by the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA).

 

Eligibility for the Rotary Lombardi Award is limited to down linemen, end-to-end, either on offense or defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, or linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage.

Utah State's Nick Diaz Named To College Football Performance Awards Placekicker of the Year Watch List

 

Utah State [University] senior Nick Diaz is one of 40 Football Bowl Subdivision players named to the College Football Performance Awards Placekicker of the Year Trophy Watch List that was announced Monday [July 14, 2014].

 

Diaz is one of six Mountain West players named to the College Football Performance Awards Placekicker of the Year Trophy Watch List along with Air Force's Will Conant, Boise State's Dan Goodale, Colorado State's Jared Roberts, Nevada's Brent Zuzo and San José State's Austin Lopez. Diaz is also one of just two placekickers from the state of Utah recognized along with Utah's Andy Phillips.

Utah State's Kyler Fackrell Named To Butkus Award Watch List

 

Utah State [University] junior Kyler Fackrell has been named to the 2014 Butkus Award Watch List, it was announced Monday [July 14, 2014] by the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA). The Butkus Award is given annually to the best linebacker in the nation.

 

Fackrell is one of just three Mountain West linebackers named to the Butkus Award Watch List along with Colorado State's Aaron Davis and Wyoming's Sunny Puetasi.

Utah State's Brian Suite Named To Jim Thorpe Award Watch List

 

Utah State [University] senior safety Brian Suite has been named to the 2014 Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, it was announced Friday [July 11, 2014] by the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA).

 

The Jim Thorpe Award, which is presented annually to the best defensive back in college football, is one of the most coveted awards in college football. The award was established in 1986 and is named after history's greatest all-around athlete, Jim Thorpe. Thorpe excelled as a running back, passer and kicker on the offensive side of the ball, but also stood out as a defensive back. In addition to his legendary performance on the football field, Thorpe played professional baseball and won Olympic gold medals in the decathlon and pentathlon.
