Friday, Jul. 25, 2014

Kirby Court at USU's Estes Center, home venue for USU Volleyball
Season tickets for the inaugural Utah State volleyball season at Kirby Court at Wayne Estes Center are now on sale.

Season tickets for the inaugural Utah State [University] volleyball season at Kirby Court at Wayne Estes Center are now on sale.

Fans can get reserved chairback season tickets for $50, while general admission season tickets are $40. Additionally, fans can purchase a Women’s Sports Pass for $75, which is good for general admission to all volleyball, women’s basketball and gymnastics home events.

If fans purchase their volleyball season tickets by Sept. 1, they can get a free Utah State volleyball seat cushion.

The Aggies will play 13 home matches in the new, friendly confines of the recently opened Kirby Court at Wayne Estes Center, a 1,400-seat venue.

The $9.7 million, 32,000 square-foot basketball practice facility and volleyball competition venue contains two regulation-size basketball courts and a regulation-size volleyball competition court with chair back seating for 400 fans as part of the 1,400 seating capacity, along with a training room and in-season strength and conditioning area. Office space for both men and women’s basketball and volleyball is also included in the new facility, as well as a locker room and film room for volleyball. Ticketing and concession services are also available on game days. Located inside the foyer of the Wayne Estes Center is a visual tribute of the building’s namesake.

Utah State volleyball posted a 114-47 (.709) record over the last 15 seasons at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. After a year hiatus, USU will host the Utah State Tournament, sponsored by Gossner Foods. The Aggies’ home tournament will be the season-opening action, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29-30. USU will welcome border-foe Idaho State, along with Oregon State and Saint Mary’s.

The Aggies will also host in-state foe Utah on Wednesday, Sept. 17, before kicking off its second season of Mountain West play against defending league champion Colorado State on Thursday, Sept. 25. USU will then face Wyoming Saturday, Sept. 27. USU will also host San José State and Nevada Thursday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 11, respectively, as well as Fresno State on Thursday, Oct. 16, to complete the first half of MW play.

In the second half of league action, Utah State will host Air Force on Thursday, Oct. 30, then kick off November action by welcoming New Mexico to town Saturday, Nov. 1. USU closes out the season with two home matches during a three-match span, opening by hosting UNLV on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The Aggies will host Boise State Tuesday, Nov. 25, in the final home match of the season.

Utah State finished the 2013 season with a 20-11 overall record and a 13-7 Mountain West ledger to finish third in the Aggies’ first season in the league. It is USU’s second 20-win season in a row and third in the last four years, all under head coach Grayson DuBose. After going 21-9 last season, Utah State has now posted back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2000 and 2001, when USU won 22 matches in 2000 and 20 in 2001. Overall, the Aggies registered their 12th 20-win season in school history in the 38 seasons of Aggie volleyball.
