Bio
My vegetative career began at a plant nursery in Salt Lake City, Utah, my home town. After high school I worked as a florist and moved out to the "west side" where my
unsound living situation inspired me to promptly enroll in college. I started out at the Salt Lake Community College, and I was ready for a bigger challenge after one
semester. I earned my undergraduate degree in Horticulture from Utah State and am now pursuing a M.S. in Plant Science. My interests evolved from flowers to food in
my time at Utah State. My research involves extending the growing season for tomatoes and lettuce using unheated greenhouses. This means more local food for us mountain
dwellers. I am happy to chat about market gardening and give farm tours to interested students. I also enjoy rock and roll and being outdoors. I hope to take my
first bicycle tour soon.
Initiatives & Goals
Increase scholarships available to graduate students in my department and university wide, specifically tuition waivers and travel grants.
Get more students from my college and outside universities involved in the Intermountain Graduate Research Symposium.
Make the services of the GSS known to graduate students and maintain a working relationship with my undergraduate counterpart and other ASUSU members.
