Bio
Mikaylie is a first year master's student in the Instructional Technology Department. She comes from a journalism background, graduated from USU
in 2007 with a degree in print journalism. This is her first time in office and she is excited to work with the students of USU in a new way. She
is from Kaysville, most recently, but has been living in Logan for most of the last five years. She is passionate about education, as most of her
parents, cousins, and other mixed family members are in the teaching profession and is very honored to be representing the graduate students in
College of Education and Human Services.
Initiatives & Goals
I would like to increase the recognition and understanding of the research that goes on in the college of education. I think, because the research our student do is unlike most of the other research on campus, it doesn’t get the attention or recognition it deserves sometimes. Also, there are a lot of creative projects being developed in the college of education that I think deserve some of the lime light as well.
I am also committed to work with the GSS to legitimize its position in ASUSU. There is a lot of confusion about what graduate students do, especially by undergraduates, and it’s only a hindrance. More and more people with undergraduate degrees are returning to school to get their masters or Phd. How great would it be, if the GSS were not only recognized for the support and work they do for graduate students, but also as a resource for undergrads who may be seeking higher level degrees. This is the kind of cooperation we should strive for as student representatives.
