Bio
Stephanie is a PhD student in Environmental and Natural Resources Sociology at Utah State University, working with Dr. Peggy Petrzelka. She has
additional concentrations in Development and plans to do her dissertation research on potential social justice impacts resulting from nuclear
renaissance in the American West, particularly in rural Western communities.Stephanie received her Master of Science in Sociology degree from USU
in Spring 2007, having completed a qualitative thesis focused on grassroots activism resulting from health complications in a southeastern Utah
community that hosted a uranium mill. In 2004, Stephanie graduated magna cum laude from Truman State University with degrees in
Sociology/Anthropology and English Composition, as well as a minor in Philosophy/Religion.
In her personal life, Stephanie has a passion for yoga, Pilates, bike riding, hiking, snowshoeing, drawing, writing, and spending time in the
mountains with her husband, Matt. She loves to travel and experience other cultures. Stephanie also enjoys teaching undergraduates and sparking
their sociological imaginations! Stephanie is from the Chicagoland area and tries to make it home to visit her wonderful family whenever she
gets the chance.

To be an advocate for graduate students and their interests.
To improve quality of life and academic well-being for graduate students.
To ensure that grad students are as secure as possible in times of recession/budget cuts.
To get more graduate students involved in student government and leadership.
To foster community between graduate students and undergraduates at USU.
