Bio
Jesse Walker is serving his sixth term as a Graduate Student Senator (or representative), and is currently hoping to receive some kind of award
for setting a new record for the longest-serving GSS person ever. He's a PhD student in Biology/Ecology, and studies how scorpions eat each
other, among other very important things. He sees graduate students as the backbone and lifeblood of the university, and is dedicated to
several critical issues: improving graduate student health insurance coverage (we did it this year!), increasing support for the library and
other academic (note: not athletic) programs all over the campus, and minimizing the amount of our student fees that goes towards dumb and
useless things (like the $50,000 a year of your student fees that gets wasted on cheerleader scholarships!). He is also currently an officer
in the USU Scuba Club, and likes playing with harbor seals and finding nudibranchs while scuba diving in the kelp forests of California.
Initiatives & Goals
Focus my efforts within the GSS on aiding graduate students academically and professionally
Use collected graduate student fees in a manner which will most greatly benefit graduate students
Resolve graduate student concerns as promptly and effectively as possible
Inform graduate students of relevant campus affairs
Help the GSS to remain focused on things that matter to graduate students, and not waste time on frivolities
Continue developing the campus health offerings: promoting subsidized health insurance for all eligible graduate students, and increasing the budget of the campus health center for needed upgrades
