Travel Funds Application

Travel Funds Application with Instructions and Regulations

We are out of Travel Awards for the 2007-2008 Academic Year, no more applications will be accepted.

FAQ:

Do I really need to have the application in four weeks before I travel?

We realize that you may not know if you'll be able to attend and don't always have the details of a conference that far in advance. And sometimes getting all those signatures can take a while! However, there are benefits of getting your application in four weeks ahead. It takes time to process the award and get you your money, if you can't get your application in well before you leave, you won't get the money until after you return.

Also, since the GSS travel funding is limited and we can't give travel awards to everyone who applies, the four week limit is used as a "tie-breaker" when there isn't enough money to cover every applicant. For example, if there is only enough money left for one travel award, it will be given to the applicant who submitted their application four weeks in advance.

However, the GSS Travel Awards are not meant to be reimbursements. Your application must be submitted before you leave and we can't give awards for conferences you've attended in the past.

Do I really need to fill out the Cost of Travel information if the award is only $300?

Yes! We keep track of how much it actually costs grad students to travel. The gap between the actual cost of travel and the $300 travel awards is information that we use to request more funding for additional travel awards.
