FDR Memorial-On the rocks
Tthis is one of the first stops on our self-guided tour of Washington D.C. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial is a forest of beautiful rock walls engraved with quotes of this great president. He was our president during and extremely difficult time in our country's history. It also includes many waterfalls, and we stopped to pause in front of these particularly beautiful falls. We stopped here on Monday morning.
The Hard Rock Cafe- Washington D. C. We stopped at this world famous restaurant Monday evening after a an exciting, long day of sightseeing. We dropped in, bought a few souvenirs, and had some delicious food. The Hard Rock has a really cool huge guitar located near the bar. It is located next to the Ford Theatre, where President Lincoln was shot by an assassin. The play that was there was called "Kudzu," a southern play.

Going down to the metro station
The metro in Washington D.C. is a fast, safe and efficient way to travel around the capital. Access is gained by a magnetic swipe card. You simply buy a card, put in a little machine, and when you get off, it deducts the amount of money you used. We had fun talking to all the folks riding around D.C. on the metro. You could ride around  all day,  then get off, swipe your card, and it won't cost as much as you would think.
This is a beautiful picture of the Old Post Office Pavilion, now a mall where you can find several cafes featuring ethnic foods all of all kinds. It was also the home of our group's official meeting place: Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. When our group split up, we always met at B & J's for some ice cream. There is a small platform where groups come to perform, and a small stage choir was performing one afternoon while we were there.
