New trich testing guidelines:
Trich cultures:
For Tritrichomonas foetus cultures that arrive at the lab in a trich pouch that was inoculated within the last 48 hrs, the charge is $6.00 per sample.
For Tritrichomonas foetus cultures that arrive at the lab in a trich pouch that was inoculated over 48 hrs, or are in saline or some other transport media other than a trich pouch, an addition setup fee of $5.50 will be charged bringing the total to $11.50 per sample.
Please be aware of the 48 hour limit when shipping samples to the laboratory (samples shipped on Fridays will go over the 48 hr limit, samples shipped on Thursdays need to be shipped overnight to be received before the 48 hr limit). Samples should be shipped in an insulated container to prevent freezing.
Trich PCR:
A single PCR test can replace three consecutive cultures for transportation of animals across state borders. Pricing for PCR is as follows:
3 or fewer samples: $30 per sample plus an $8 accession fee
4 or more samples: $16 per sample plus an $8 accession fee
The samples must be submitted in a trich pouch. No special shipping conditions.
Trich pouches are available from BioMed diagnostics (phone: 800-964-6466)
