Here is a week dedicated to those who want a great workout in a joint-stress free atmosphere. Anyone with bad knees, hurting hips, painful lower backs, etc. will learn a lifetime’s worth of challenging and fun exercises without the worry of an ominous visit to the physical therapist or surgeon’s table. Also, anyone simply interested in learning different exercises to add to his or her workout and repertoire should take advantage of this class. The stability ball helps promote a wider range of motion and a fuller use of each muscle group with every exercise movement. If you’re looking for better flexibility, healthier posture, stronger joints, and a fantastic workout then take this one week to find everything that will make the other fifty-one weeks of the year more enjoyable.

How do we do Boot Camp justice with an explanation! Take high intensity cardiovascular exercises and throw in every muscle group of your body working out to exhaustion with sweat dripping off your eye lashes, chin, nose, ear lobes, elbows, knees and toes; That’s Boot Camp. Establish an intimate relationship with exercise mats, jump ropes, stop watches, the Field House track and courts, Old Main Hill and it’s stairs; That’s Boot Camp. Take your goals of fat loss, muscle strength, aerobic endurance, fun social activity and complete all of them in one hour or less; That’s Boot Camp.

Maybe you muster up the courage to walk into a weight room and see a Tetris of cables, squares, and circles waiting to hurt you; you think to yourself, I wonder if something is on TV instead. Maybe you see a bunch of guys in cut apart shirts making sure you know exactly where and how big their obliques and biceps are, and you know how many reps they do by the number of grunts you hear. Maybe you have no idea what an oblique or rep is. Maybe you know weight rooms but want to turn your same old routine into a variety of new exercises. Whatever your case, welcome to Fit Club, where we laugh and have fun learning about and doing different exercises: Free Weights, Cable Weights, Pilates, Yoga, Calisthenics, Plyometrics, Isometrics, Concentric and Eccentric training, aerobics, Intervals and Circuits, etc. We sweat ourselves into good friendships, and we get stronger, healthier, happier, and more confident in our abilities with each workout.

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics - (12-1 pm)

Jan. 14 - Apr. 26  |   MWF 12:00 - 1:00 pm   |   HPER Pool

USU ID: $35   |   Community: $45

So many advantages exist in exercising in the pool: the water allows us to do each exercise movement without stress or pain going to our joints; the water also provides a constant resistance so while we workout out aerobically, we are also strengthening our muscles; the water creates a refreshing, fun atmosphere for exercise and play; the water takes away any fears of sweating in front of other people. In water aerobics we give every muscle in our bodies a great workout three days a week. We burn a lot of calories to help promote weight loss, and we get stronger overall so we prevent ourselves from future health complications like diseases and injuries. Who thought playing in the water could be so good for us?

Join me for a spinning class that's rooted in music and has a focus on "real road" cycling application.  The music will drive this 50 minute class as we climb and descend hills, do sprint intervals and cruise through some endurance.  My classes are energized, having upbeat music, and give each rider the ability to work as hard as they want.  By the end, you will feel like you went out and did a road ride, having experienced all elements that you might find outside!
