USU Dairy Plant
The dairy products lab at Utah State University has been in operation since 1906 when it was first opened as a small butter production plant. Over the many years since then, the plant has grown tremendously and now provides USU faculty and visiting researchers with the resources needed to conduct cutting-edge dairy research. The facilities are always ready and available for new projects, including scale-up, product development, formulation and other research or manufacturing support. Famous Aggie Ice Cream, made in the plant from only the finest natural ingredients, is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Also developed and manufactured in the USU dairy plant are a number of specialty cheeses, including Old Juniper Aged Cheddar, Aggiano, a Parmesan-type cheese, Old Ephriam, a processed smoky-Swiss, and Crimson Trail, a processed jalapeno cheddar.
