Instituted in 2001 and named for a celebrated writer and longtime WLA member, the Frederick Manfred Award goes to the best creative writing submission to the annual Western Literature Association conference. The award goes to a panelist at the conference. Do not submit work if you don't plan to attend the conference. The submitted work has to be previously unpublished and no longer than 15 pages. If there is a low number of submissions, the award may not be given.
