49th WLA Conference – “Border Songs”

Venue: The Fairmont Empress (http://www.fairmont.com/empress/), Victoria, BC.
Conference rate: $149.

The Department of English at the University of Victoria will be the host institution for the Western Literature Association’s annual conference in 2014. The WLA returns to Canada remembering two very successful past Canadian meetings (Vancouver 1995; Banff 1998).

The conference title, “Border Songs,” comes from Jim Lynch’s cross-border novel. Developing topic are West Coast literatures (and comparative studies of them), First Nations/Native American literatures, storytelling, and song.

A call for papers and other information will follow.
