USU
History Department and WHQ Highlighted by AHA's HistoriansTV
The
American Historical Association has recognized USU's Department
of History and the Western Historical Quarterly for their
innovative approach to teaching and research publication. In its
second year partnering with HistoriansTV to produce 30 minute
news programs for broadcast during its 2010 annual convention,
the AHA selected USU for one of its five minute "thought
leadership films." These feature segments highlight programs,
policies, technologies, best practices, and institutions from
around the US and Canada that advance the goal of historical research,
scholarship, and education. USU's Department of History was recognized
for its brilliant pedagogy and innovative assessment models, as
well as for and its leadership in the field of western American
history. The AHA singled out its 40-plus year sponsorship of the
Western Historical Quarterly which creates a unique and
vibrant graduate program with special opportunities for students
