Nursing Rooms -
The Women’s Center at Utah State University, in cooperation with ADVANCE, the Wellness Program, the Provost’s Office and Facilities, has completed its first nursing room on campus.
“With the state of Utah having the highest birthrate in the nation, we know that the number of student, staff, and faculty mothers on our campus is significant”, said Patricia Stevens, Women’s Center director. “Our commitment to serving requires that we address needs that will facilitate an excellent learning environment on campus.”
The nursing room is provided for breastfeeding mothers, offering a private space to feed infants or to pump breast milk for later use. Each nursing room will also provide the convenience of a changing table.
The first of several planned nursing rooms is located on the second floor of the Taggart Student Center in the women’s restroom between the Marketplace and room 220.
“It is our intention to complete several more rooms on campus in strategic locations to make breastfeeding or tending an infant much easier and more accessible to our campus mothers,” Stevens said. “The Women’s Center thanks all who have been involved in the first stage of this project and applaud the enthusiasm with which they have participated.”
