Honors in Women and Gender Studies is designed for students who choose not to pursue Honors in their major, and who are pursuing a minor or certificate in Women and Gender Studies. Students who have at least 3-4 semesters remaining are encouraged to apply.
Qualified students will have cumulative GPAs of at least 3.30, will complete an application for admittance to Honors, and are pursuing a minor or certificate in Women and Gender Studies.
Program of Study: The 15-credit requirement for the Honors designation is met in the following way:
- 9-12 credits in upper-division coursework from the WGS courses
- 3 credits of HONR 4900, Honors Senior Thesis/Project
- Honors courses taken on a pass/fail basis will not be accepted
The successful candidate will graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and a GPA of 3.5 in upper-division major requirements and Honors coursework. The successful candidate will also complete a Senior Honors Thesis/Project and present the results in a public forum (e.g., Student Showcase, Departmental Colloquia, Professional Meetings). Many students have found it helpful to relate the courses taken on Honors contract to the final thesis/project.
