 E. Brody Craney spent his youth on a farm in southern Idaho and graduated as Salutatorian from Bear Lake High. He then studied engineering, acting, and music graduating with honors from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. Brody apprenticed at the Utah Festival Opera Company and subsequently became their Company Manager.
