USU Youth Conservatory Monster Concert 2012
Once Upon a Time…
February 4, 2012                    6:00 pm                    Kent Concert Hall

Steps for signing up your students:

• Review all of the music (available for review and ONE-DAY checkout in the YC    office) and determine which students will be able to learn it quickly and play it (and COUNT it) comfortably. Students can participate in more than one of the numbers as long as they can make all rehearsals, and you’re SURE they can play every number securely.

• Talk with your students and their parents to see if they are willing to prepare well for the concert, make the necessary rehearsals (the week of January 30), and the concert itself.

• Sign up your students in pencil. All repertoire will have a specific amount of open slots, and after that there will be a waiting list. Sign your students up early to make sure they get a slot on the program!

• Give each student all necessary parent acknowledgement forms (available on the table outside the YC office), filling in the student name and part assigned. Once the form is signed and returned to you from parents, bring it to the YC office, we will check off that student’s name on the signup sheet. Any students not checked off by January 9 may lose their slot to someone on the waiting list.

• Students will need to purchase an original copy of the music assigned (NO
PHOTOCOPIES), either from the YC Office (435-797-3018; M-Th 4-6 p.m.), The Book
Table (29 S Main, 435-752, 3055), or Dayne’s Music (6935 S. State St. Midvale, UT; 800-780-6857). Recordings of all pieces are available for student reference on the YC website.  Encourage them to begin practicing their part now, and to spend time working on it during Christmas Break.

• Recordings of all pieces are available for teachers and students to review at the Monster Concert link on the YC website (www.usu.edu/ycpiano). Rehearsal schedules and other information will be posted there, as well, so keep checking the site.

• Final lists will be posted on Friday, January 13. The following Tuesday (January 17) after the YC Recital, we will have our final Monster Concert Planning Meeting in Room 214 at 7 pm.

Monster Concert music can be purchased through The Book Table (29 S Main, 435-752-3055)
or Dayne’s Music (6935 S. State St. Midvale, UT; 801-566-6090).
