It is a pleasure to invite you to the 36th Annual USU Piano Festival on Saturday, April 19th, 2008 in the Chase Fine Arts Center. The festival will feature the Music Carnival, performance adjudications, and the USU Piano Festival Competitions.

We are pleased to announce an entirely different format for the USU Piano Festival Competitions. We will offer 16 different competitions this year. Click here for details about the various competitions. Students may enter one or more of the competitions as long as they meet the age and repertoire requirements, and play a different piece in each competition entered. Please note, all competition participants should be prepared to play in the morning as well as in the finals, which will be held in the afternoon.

Students who choose NOT to compete will perform before a Festival adjudicator and receive written comments. One or two pieces may be played in the non-competition division, not to exceed 6 minutes playing time.

The cost of the Festival is $15 to $20 per event: pre-festival adjudication, non-competition, and each division of the Piano Festival Competitions. The Festival fee entitles each student and his/her teacher to attend all events, including the Piano Festival Preliminary Competitions & Finals, the Mini-Artist competitions or adjudicated performances, and the Music Carnival.

Special requests for non-competition students, (schedule before noon, after 1 p.m., etc.) will result in an additional $5 fee. If the festival is unable to honor a special request, the $5 special request fee will be refunded. Applications with special requests that do not have the appropriate fee included will not be processed. Because of the many divisions in the Piano Festival Competitions, special requests will not be accepted for competition students.

Register by completing and returning the appropriate application form postmarked by March 7, 2008. Please note that there are separate forms for non-competition and competition students. A complete schedule of the day’s activities will be sent to teachers at a later date, and teachers are asked to share schedule information with their students.

Please make checks payable to USU PIANO FESTIVAL and send the completed application forms to:
