The 36th Annual USU Piano Festival will feature twelve competitions in the following categories:

METHOD BOOK ARTIST - entry fee $20 (Any two memorized pieces written by a composer born in the 20th century expressly for a method book. Contestents must bring the method book(s) to show eligibility.)
1. Ages 8 & under
2. Ages 9-11
3. Ages 12-14

MINI-ARTIST - entry fee $20 (one piece under 2 minutes in duration; no cuts allowed)
4. Ages 10 & under
5. Ages 11-14
6. Ages 15-18

LYRICAL SOLO - entry fee $15 (one piece that is lyrical and in a slow tempo)
7. Ages 12 & under
8. Ages 13-18

BAROQUE/CLASSICAL SOLO - entry fee $15 (one piece from either the Baroque or Classic Period)
9. Ages 14 & under
10 . Ages 15-18

IMPRESSIONIST/20TH CENTURY SOLO - entry fee $15 (one piece in the Impressionist or 20th century style-POP, JAZZ OR ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS ALLOWED)
11. Ages 14 & under
12. Ages 15-18

ROMANTIC SOLO - entry fee $15 (one piece from the Romantic period)
9. Ages 14 & under
10. Ages 15-18

CONCERTO DIVISION - entry fee $15 (one movement from any concerto, no accompaniment)
11. Ages 14 & under
12. Ages 15-18

AWARDS:
A first prize of $100 will be awarded in Lyrical 8, Baroque/Classic 10, Impressionist/20th Century 12, Romantic 14, and Concerto 16 divisions.

A first prize of $80 will be awarded in Lyrical 7, Baroque/Classic 9, Impressionist/20th Century 11, Romantic 13, and Concerto 15 divisions.

Second and Third Prizes will be awarded in all levels, but the amounts will depend on the number of entries in each event.

AGE IS DETERMINED BY STUDENT AGE ON MARCH 15, 2008.
A Student may enter more than one competition; however, a different piece must be played for each competition entered. A previous winner may enter any competition as long as the age and repertoire requirements are met.
