Example of Sound/Audio Files

You'll notice that you aren't hearing any sounds from this computer right now. That's because on the Internet, sounds must be downloaded by clicking on a word or icon. Once clicked, the sound file will be transmitted to you.

The example below includes an icon (the speaker) and the notation "AU (770K)." This indicates that the sound file is an AU format file (a Sun/Next format) and that it is 770K (770 kilobytes or 770,000 bytes) in size. The file will take time to download. Once the whole file has been received, the Web Browser (such as Netscape) will have to launch an external application to play the sound file.
