Canvas Accessibility Checker - Link Errors
Screen reader users often use links as a way to quickly navigate through a page. When creating a link, make sure that you use text that explains what the link leads to, rather than generic phrases like "click here" or "read more." For example, a link that says “refer to USU’s Accessibility website” explains that the link is going to direct the user to the USU Accessibility website. It’s also important to avoid using long URL’s as link text. This is because a screen reader will read the entire URL to a user letter by letter which can be confusing and unhelpful.
The Canvas Accessibility Checker will flag identical links that are next to each other but are separated into individual links.
This often happens due to unintentional formatting or spaces like pressing enter in the middle of a link. A screen reader would read the two links separately, even though they lead to the same place. This can be confusing or redundant for users. To fix the issue, select the Merge Links option. Then click Apply. The identical links will then be combined into one link.
