Furlong Excellence in Politics and Government Scholarship Endowment

Q: How do you say thanks to a man who influenced your
life . . . and thousands of others?

A: Pay it forward.

In 47 years at Utah State University, Bill Furlong’s accolades include College Teacher of the Year, College Researcher of the Year, College Advisor of the Year, and University Professor of the Year. Under his leadership, USU’s Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, received national recognition as the Best Chapter of the Year—10 times! Bill’s students have become leaders in government, community, military, business, and academia. Many directly attribute their success to Professor Furlong. One of those is probably you.

The Department of Political Science and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences are supporting development of the Furlong Excellence in Politics and Government Scholarship endowment to recognize and remember, in perpetuity, Bill Furlong’s legacy. The fund is just $5,000 away from the total of $25,000 needed to endow an annual award of $1,000 to students worthy of the name “Furlong Scholar.”

As a beneficiary of Bill Furlong’s gift to you, where will you pay it forward?

  • 200 alumni giving $25 each will complete the endowment
  • 50 giving $100 each will complete the endowment.
  • 10 giving $500 each will complete the endowment.

Please help secure the endowment for the Furlong Excellence in Politics and Government Scholarship today by donating using the form on this page. Or, contact the CHaSS Development Director (below) to discuss other giving options.
