Utah State University was recognized as having one of the best online bachelor’s programs in the nation in 2020 by U.S. News & World Report, one of the preeminent college ranking systems. The No. 23 ranking comes as USU Online celebrates its 25th anniversary of educating students.

“This marks the sixth straight year we’ve been ranked among the Top 25 online bachelor’s programs in the country,” said Robert Wagner, vice president of Academic and Instructional Services at USU. “Our dedicated instructors use online courses in unique and engaging ways that provide students the best possible education wherever they call home.”

USU was also selected as sixth in the nation for its online master’s education program, listed as 18th in the nation for its online veterans bachelor’s program, and was ranked on the online MBA list for the first time. No other school in Utah appeared on the online master’s education list, and USU is the only Utah school in the Top 100 for its online bachelor’s program.

Currently, USU offers 12 online bachelor’s degrees and 19 online master’s degrees, including five launched in fall 2019. More than 500 courses, including most general education classes, are offered every semester to more than 9,800 students. This year marks the 25th anniversary of USU fulfilling its land-grant mission by offering online education outside of the traditional campus setting.

“Through USU Online, we deliver high-value courses and instruction to students across the world,” said Francis D. Galey, USU’s executive vice president and provost. “Our commitment to quality coursework and innovative instruction allows us to lead in online education among our peers and positively change the lives of our students.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings were released after a competitive screening process of more than 300 universities. Ranking criteria for online bachelor’s programs were based on engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials and training, and expert opinion.
