For Freedoms: Fifty States Exhibit

Since 2016, For Freedoms has produced exhibitions, town hall meetings, billboards and public art to spur greater participation in civic life.

This year, we launch The 50 State Initiative, a new phase of programming from September through December 2018 during the lead-up to the midterm elections. Building off of the existing artistic infrastructure in the United States, For Freedoms has developed a network of artists and institutional partners who will produce nationwide public art installations, exhibitions and local community dialogues in order to inject nuanced, artistic thinking into public discourse. Centered around the vital work of artists, we hope that these exhibitions and related projects will model how arts institutions can become civic forums for action and discussion of values, place, and patriotism.

Symposium: God and Smog: The Challenge of Preserving Our Planet

Conference/Seminar

One-day symposium will consider the environment in relation to the perspectives and actions of five religious traditions: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Mormonism, and Native American traditions. The morning panel will consist of scholars who study the interaction of religion and the environment, while the afternoon panel will engage religious leaders who speak from the perspectives of their respective traditions. Among presenters are Steven Snow, LDS Church Historian, Mormon scholar Philip Barlow, and Carolyn Tanner Irish, former Episcopalian bishop. Takes place in the Parry Pavilion, 4th floor of the Huntsman School of Business. Free and open to the public

Turn your fear into FASCINATION!

Explore the largest arachnid exhibit in the United States and discover the connections between arachnids and literature, art, folklore, paleontology, science, and history. The Art and Science of Arachnids features 100 live arachnids and exciting hands-on activities, experiments, and play. During its time at the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, this exhibit will be available to read and listen to in both Spanish and English!

Special Event

Farmers markets epitomize sustainability by bringing community members together to purchase locally grown, healthier food, crafts and other products. The purpose of the Market is obtain these benefits for USU students in a way that is also beneficial to the community. USU's agricultural atmosphere provides the perfect setting for an on-campus market. One of the primary benefits to USU's students is the 'double your dollars' program, allowing students to double their money in dollar increments up to $5. Tokens for produce purchases will be available at the entrance booth.

Morgan Stanley Information Session

Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management Operations Analyst Program is a competitive program that provides an opportunity for entry-level employees to both learn about the Financial Services Industry and develop the necessary professional competencies to be successful within Operations. Initial placements will be within the Client Service Center whereby Analysts work closely with their managers in goal setting and career planning to achieve their individual developmental goals. In addition, the Analyst Program has a rotation component, allowing Analysts to begin their careers in a Client Service role and progress to advanced phone roles or Wealth Management support roles.
If you want to hear more about the full-time opportunities available in their South Jordan office, join them on Wednesday, October 10th at the Morgan Stanley Information Session, aimed at undergraduate seniors. The session will be a valuable opportunity to meet some of the people who are creating change at Morgan Stanley and hear firsthand why they believe our culture is the real differentiator.

Mr. USU Pageant

Student Activities

Mr. USU is a male pageant held at Utah State University. This annual event is a traditional part of Homecoming Week for Aggies. Each college at the university is represented with the addition of Student Alumni Association, Diversity, Student Involvement, and Greek Life.

Contestants are judged in three different categories: talent, fitness and formal question-and-answer. A winner is announced at the end of the night and is crowned Mr. USU. This is a way for Aggies to come together and represent each college and organization in a fun, exciting way by performing for their fellow students.

This concert features our two large jazz ensembles: the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra. Our award-winning Jazz Orchestra is our most advanced jazz ensemble, and features some of the most talented students in our department. Both bands will be playing a variety of standard repertoire, however this concert will focus primarily on the music of Count Basie, Thad Jones, and Chuck Owen. Two highlights will be Ahunk Ahunk, by Thad Jones, and The Gift Awaits by Chuck Owen.
