Negative body image is a common issue among college students. The term, “body image,” refers to the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs you hold about your body, as well as how they affect your daily life. Body acceptance is a way to build a healthier relationship with your body. In this workshop, we will explore what body image distress and body acceptance is and tools to help you move towards a place of body acceptance. Powered by Your Body: Intuitive Movement Class

Recreation

Intuitive movement is being intentional while engaging in movement and listening to your body along the way. This class will be a hybrid of a movement class and a workshop; you will engage in an exercise class, while learning and practicing intuitive movement skills to build a healthier relationship between you, your body, and movement.

Powered by Your Body: The Illusionists Documentary Screening + Panel Discussion

Special Event

The Illusionists documentary is an award-winning documentary about the globalization of beauty and the dark side of advertising and its impact on body image. The documentary will be screened from 5:30-7pm. From 7-8pm, a panel of experts in various fields that the documentary touches on will discuss their thoughts on the documentary and will answer questions from the audience. Snacks and beverages will be available before and during the screening.

Powered by Your Body: Barre & Color

Recreation

The circuit training approach will help you get more acquainted with your body using a combination of stretching, body weight movements, resistance bands, and free weights. The class goal is to help you be more present in your workouts by listening to your body and exploration of how one can apply this skill to other areas of daily life.
