6th Annual Paper & Clay

Paper & Clay is a national juried exhibition open to all BFA & MFA printmaking and ceramic students across the country. This year’s exhibition showcases 54 exceptional contemporary student works from 20 various academic institutions. This year’s juror is printmaking artist and University of Minneapolis professor Jenny Schmid.

The reception for the exhibit is on Thursday, Feb 16, from 5 – 7 PM.

Communitas Lecture Series: Tara Talepasand

Arts/Entertainment

Taravat Talepasand is an artist, activist, and educator whose labor-intensive interdisciplinary painting practice questions normative cultural behaviors within contemporary power imbalances. As an Iranian-American woman, Talepasand explores the cultural taboos that reflect on gender and political authority. Her approach to figuration reflects the cross-pollination, or lack thereof, in our Western Society.

Playwright Matt Cox describes these characters as "Funny, intelligent, silly, heartwarming, a little worn and slightly ignored."

It's time for the "losers" of this magic school to rise!

Gabe Kovach: Guest Artist Horn Recital

Gabriel Kovach, born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, is active as both a chamber and orchestral musician. Mr. Kovach has been Principal Horn of the Phoenix Symphony since 2006. Previously, he has held positions as both the Principal Horn of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Opera Company of Philadelphia.
