The Art + Design Undergraduate Art Exhibition celebrates the diversity of creative expression within the department, showcasing an impressive range of artwork from students at various levels in their academic journey. The exhibition offers a comprehensive view of the talent emerging from disciplines such as drawing & painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, design, ceramics, and our foundations courses.
Olsen Lecture Series: Nanoscience Pioneer Gregory Hartland
Lecture/Readings
University of Notre Dame chemist Gregory Hartland is pioneering use of optics to examine properties of single plasmonic nanostructures. His research includes development of novel techniques to perform time-resolved and steady state spectroscopy experiments on single particles. He will present “Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Single Plasmonic Nanostructures" as featured speaker for the Utah State University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry’s 2024 Richard Olsen Lecture series. All are welcome to his talk at 4 p.m. Oct. 9, in the Eccles Science Learning Center, Room ESLC 046, on the Logan campus. Hartland is a Notre Dame Collegiate Professor and director of graduate studies in Notre Dame’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He served as senior editor of the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Physical Chemistry, and was recently named deputy editor of the society’s Journal of Physical Chemistry C. Harland is an ACS Fellow, a Royal Society of Chemistry Fellow and an American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow. The Olsen Lecture Series was established by in 2006 by the late USU Emeritus Professor Richard Olsen and his wife, LiVina Hymas Olsen.
The World Languages Film Festival: Minari
Cultural
The World Languages Film Festival presents Minari (2020) in Korean and English with English subtitles.
A Korean-American family moves to rural Arkansas in the 1980s to pursue the American Dream by starting a farm. As they struggle with the challenges of assimilation, financial hardship, and cultural identity, the film poignantly explores themes of family, resilience, and the immigrant experience in America.
Rating: PG-13
Thematic material including family struggle and some language.
Aggie Translators
Workshop/Training
If you are fluent in a second or third language, we need you! Come join our wonderful team of Aggie Translators and help us provide translation and interpreting services in our community. Every other Wednesday, we meet to receive informal training to become community translators and interpreters and enhance our language skills.
