Join us for our monthly USU and UDWR Seminar Series in person or via Zoom. Light lunch is provided for in-person attendees. Title: "Maximizing success of seed-based restoration: analysis of current practices and experimental tests of new possibilities" Authors: Spencer Good, Kari Veblen, Eric Thacker (Dept. of Wildland Resources, USU), Tom Monaco (USDA-ARS Forage and Range Research Unit), Kevin Gunnell, Danny Summers, Melissa Landeen (UDWR Great Basin Research Center Talk Summary: "Our collaborative research with the UDWR aims to improve restoration outcomes throughout Utah's rangelands. First, we have been investigating the species composition of restoration seed mixes used by UDWR, particularly with respect to the "Resistance and Resilience" framework that is increasingly being used to inform management of western rangelands. Second, we have been experimentally evaluating the field performance of different seed mixes that include vs. exclude commonly-used non-native species and the potential of these different types of mixes to promote multiple restoration goals."
