Science Unwrapped - Countdown to Launch
Special Event | Science Unwrapped
Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, the free, public outreach program of USU's College of Arts and Sciences. Our events begin with a brief presentation, and are followed by hands-on learning activities and refreshments. At our Nov 14 event: Launching any payload into space requires lots of energy. Every ounce and inch counts as scientists and engineers strive to pack as much function as possible into the smallest space possible. Undergrad researcher Ethan Wayland leads USU’s Get Away Special (GAS) student team, which has been selected by NASA to design and build a CubeSat (cube satellite) to deploy into space from the International Space Station in 2026. The team, with mentorship from USU Electrical and Computer Engineering Associate Professor Reyhan Baktur, is developing “GASRATS” (Get Away Special Radio and Antenna Transparency Satellite), which features a novel optically transparent patch antenna integrated into a solar panel. Join the Ethan and Reyhan to find out how student researchers design and build a satellite for space!

Set against the grand backdrop of Napoleon’s fateful 1812 invasion of imperial Russia, Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812 recounts innocent Natasha’s fateful surrendering to the sybarite Anatole, disenchanted Pierre’s search for meaning, and the auspicious comet that connects them both.
This Tony-award winning electropop musical straddles genres, providing a unique, once-in-a-lifetime theatrical experience. Performed by USU voice and orchestra students in an in-the-round supper club setting at the LionHeart Hall (480 N 100 E, Logan, UT), Nov. 14-15, 20-22, at 7:30pm, Nov. 16 at 4:00pm, and Nov. 22 at 2:00pm. Mocktails and light hors d’oeuvres included with ticket price.

String and Piano Chamber Music - Fall Recital

Every semester, students of the String and Piano Programs form new chamber music projects and prepare their repertoire under the guidance of the Fry Street Quartet and the USU Piano Faculty, with additional masterclasses from the guest artists of the Chamber Music Society of Logan. This program will feature works by Beethoven, Brahms, Ravel, Borodin, Arensky, and Clara Schumann.
