Home Cheese Making Class

Workshop/Training

This one-day class is designed for hobbyists and artisan cheese-makers looking to start into the world of cheese. The class will feature hands-on lessons of two cheeses. Taught by an industry specialist, participants will learn in a kitchen-like setting with opportunities to practice techniques such as using rennet and cultures, seasoning, cutting curd, stretching mozzarella, and aging feta. The workshop runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and includes lunch. For registration information, email westcent@usu.edu or call 435-797-3466. USU Wildland Fire Club site visit to Green Canyon Fire

Student Activities

The USU Wildland Fire Club will be participating in a site visit to this summer's Green Canyon Fire.  Agencies involved with the initial attack of this fire will be join the Fire Club including the likes of Utah Forestry, Fire, and State Lands. Following discussion on the initial attack, fire investigation, fuels management, and hiking the fireline, the Fire Club plans a campfire and cookout in Green Canyon.

Community Rakes & Shovels Leaf Raking Sessions

Volunteer once, twice, or many times over the coming months! Upon registering, volunteers will be matched with a resident who has requested services.

This season, we are arranging raking shifts that volunteer can sign up for. We will be going out on a regular basis after the leaves start falling. After submitting your registration form, we will give you access to the shifts. Are you part of a club or group that is looking for a service project? Feel free to share the shifts with them too!

Community Rakes & Shovels was created in response to needs expressed by community members. The Christensen Office of Service & Sustainability coordinates requests for services from local senior citizens and community member with disabilities while connecting them to volunteers who would like to provide raking or snow shoveling services throughout the fall and winter.

USU Composting Facility Tour w/ Student Sustainability Club

Come with Student Sustainability Club for a tour of the USU composting facility! We will meet at the USU LOAM Facilities yard, which is located behind the Stan Laub Training Center, just north of the USU track (link to Google Maps pin provided in address). It is a short walk from the furthest north stop on the Silver Aggie Shuttle loop. Come with any questions you have about how USU handles its compost!

Wind Orchestra

Concerts are part of the band large ensemble curriculum. As capstone events, they typically occur twice per semester. Students are required to participate in these events as a large part of their grades, and these concerts are the culmination of several weeks of classroom rehearsals.
