Call for 2025 Presidential Award Nominations
Ceremony/Awards/Celebration
Each year, USU recognizes the work of outstanding faculty, staff, students, partners, and alumni that exemplifies collaboration between USU and the greater community and demonstrates ongoing commitment to community engagement and positive social change. The Center for Community Engagement has three prestigious awards for students, faculty, and community members who are committed to outstanding service: The Presidential Award, the Ivory Prize, and the Val R. Christensen Service Scholarship. Deadline for nominations Saturday, March 15, 2025, 11:59pm. Award ceremony takes place Wednesday, April 16, 2025 5pm-5pm in TSC Lounges.
Call for Community-Engaged Posters

The Center for Community Engagement invites students, faculty, and staff to share exemplary community-engaged practice, research, or teaching in our annual poster session. Audience Award Winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to a local business. Submissions are due through the website provided below by 11:59pm Friday, April 11, 2025. Poster session to take place in the TSC Lounges Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 4:00pm-5:00pm.
Paper & Clay Exhibition

The Paper & Clay is a national juried exhibition open to all BFA & MFA printmaking and ceramic students across the country. This is the 8th annual exhibition which will showcase over 60 exceptional contemporary student works from various academic institutions.
Five-Slide Friday
Workshop/Training
Five-Slide Friday is an informal get together over lunch on (some) Fridays where faculty and students from the Department of Data Analytics and Information Systems can present about their education, field of study, work experience, academic research, ASC project, new favorite data tool, etc. and answer questions. The objective is to help ease the friction that naturally occurs in interdisciplinary settings while helping both faculty and students learn and retool. Bring your lunch and, if you're presenting, remember that you can't prepare more than five slides!

CIDI Workshop - AI in Teaching: Basics and Opportunities

In this workshop, we discuss the basics of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, MS Copilot, Dall-E, etc., as they pertain to higher education. Specifically, we'll seek to address how they work and ways teachers can choose to approach them in their classes. We'll discuss syllabus language, AI detection tools, and ways to encourage students to think critically, use AI responsibly, and demonstrate their own capabilities. We'll also share some ideas and examples of AI as a teaching tool.

About the Lecture Ok designers: How do you CONCEPT? Like us, every project is unique. Every site, situation, and problem-field can bewilder and delight. Yet you need to begin, somehow. The blank page can be scary, while too much data can paralyze. [AHHHH!, it's a Dragon!] ------------- In light of the danger ahead, what then are the first critical steps you should take to bring your new ideas out of obscurity? While you take initial action and gain momentum, how do you communicate a systematic process persuasively enough to get others on board? How do you give a voice to the quiet wisdom of your personal values and professional principles? How do you connect people and add social, cultural, and ecological value? Therein lies the path to potential "success" in my experience. The ability to see and describe key information despite [and through] the inherent complexity of contemporary landscape architectural practice is a learned skill. This talk will explore those early moments of conceptual struggle and move us together toward a set of useful tools and possible approaches required to frame design opportunities. You'll be riding your dragons in no time.
