Run the Runway 5K

Fundraiser

For several years, USU Aviation and the Phi Lambda Upsilon chapter of Alpha Eta Rho has hosted the Run the Runway 5K. This race gives runners the unique opportunity of running on one of the runways at the Logan-Cache airport. In addition, this race will provide funding for the Frank de León Comprés Memorial Scholarship awarded to a USU Aviation Student each year. You can also be a 'virtual' runner to donate any amount to the scholarship program and run where ever you are! Our goal is to raise $2,000 and find 12 matching donors so that we can create an endowment for this scholarship.

Music Box Concert Series, Piano Concert  - Carnival of the Animals, Part II

Arts/Entertainment

Cahill Smith, associate professor of the College of Arts & Sciences at Utah State University and Shannon Hirschi, the USU Youth Conservatory piano teacher will perform selected movements of Camille Saint-Saëns' "Carnival of the Animals." Come and listen to how two pianists can imitate the personality and character of each animal! If you like, bring your favorite stuffed animal toy. At the end of the concert, children will have the opportunity to pet our large instrument.

The concert is FREE, but seating is limited. Please register in advance. You may want to bring a pillow or blanket for comfort as most of the class will be on the carpeted floor.

Music Box Concerts are 30-45 minute programs presented by the USU Music Department students and guests. They are designed to provide young children access to live music concerts and are sponsored by the Music Department in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Education Endowment.

Play Reading Series #1: "Poor Clare" by Chiara Atik

Arts/Entertainment

It’s 1211 in Assisi, Italy, and Clare’s got beauty, wealth, and a rich suitor who showers her with expensive presents. So why is she so drawn to this guy Francis who gave up all his possessions just because poor people are suffering? Everyone in town says he’s crazy. And yet…she starts seeing everything in her life differently. This hilarious, anachronistic telling of the real story of St. Clare considers the cost of doing good—and how little has changed for the haves and the have-nots in almost a millennium.
