Arts & Entertainment / Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art

The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art will hold its next Museum + Music concert on Sunday, December 3 at 3PM in the Caine Performance Hall located on the Utah State University Logan campus. Students from the USU Music Department will present a program exploring different facets of the visual art and music of the Depression era West. In doing so they will examine a myriad of artistic responses to the crisis, including how government “New Deal” programs helped to foster a sense of shared identity and purpose in the face of daily personal hardships. Music will include selections from the popular, classical and jazz music of the time, juxtaposed with visual art inspired by the experience of the Great Depression. Museum + Music is free and open to the public with a reception following the performance.

Little Naturalist is the perfect program for 3 to 5 year olds who are curious about animals, their habitats, the environment, and exploring nature. Join us twice a month, October through May, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to read a specially selected nature-themed book, explore the natural world, and complete a craft. Some favorites include snowshoeing on the Preserve, interacting with live reptiles and amphibians, upcycling old materials into holiday decorations, and much more! Cost is $2.00 per youth participant, or buy a $15.00 punch card good for 10 programs. Only one punch card required per family and never expires. Payment will be taken at the door the day of the program. One caregiver must accompany children to participate. Please be prepared to adventure outdoors!

For more than 30 years, the Youth Conservatory (YC) has helped parents provide the best for their children by fostering the standards of musical excellence in a learning environment filled with enthusiasm and enjoyment. Founded in 1978 by internationally recognized pianist and pedagogue, Gary Amano, the YC occupies a central role among Cache Valley's cultural programs for young people. Each week, more than 300 pianists, ages 4–18, of varying abilities and backgrounds, come to the Chase Fine Arts Center for piano lessons and musicianship classes.

During this tour, you will learn about the history of the Preserve as well as what kinds of plants and animals you will find during the winter. Additionally, you will have time to search for and identify animal tracks and other signs of animal life on the Preserve.
