Chamber Music Society of Logan: Weiss Kaplan Stumpf Trio

Combining the talents of three award-winning soloists, the Weiss Kaplan Stumpf Trio brings to each performance its distinctive fusion of authority and experience, energy, and passion. Violinist Mark Kaplan, cellist Peter Stumpf, and pianist Yael Weiss comprise an ensemble that embraces the music of the future while offering fresh insights into three centuries of masterworks. The Trio is also known for its stimulating and varied programming of the entire trio repertoire and for performance of Beethoven’s complete cycle of works for piano trio.

Stephanie Rhodes Russell Master Class

Stephanie Rhodes Russell is a renowned opera collaborator, having served on the music staff of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, The Dallas Opera, Houston Grand Opera, LA Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera and Wolf Trap Opera, amongst others. She has garnered experience as a conductor, assistant conductor, prompter, chorusmaster, rehearsal pianist, diction coach and recitalist. She was selected to participate in the inaugural Institute for Women Conductors at The Dallas Opera and recently joined the Miami Summer Music Festival to conduct performances of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. As a Fulbright award recipient, Ms. Rhodes spent the 2012/13 season in Moscow specializing in Russian repertoire and pronunciation for non-native singers. She was commissioned by The Dallas Opera to transliterate Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and is currently working on a book to standardize Russian diction for singers. An alum of the Houston Grand Opera Studio and San Francisco’s Merola Opera program, she holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Utah State University in Collaborative Piano and Piano Performance.

Wassermann Festival Concert Series: Amit Peled

Grammy-nominated cellist, conductor, and pedagogue Amit Peled enjoys a busy and dynamic career performing for audiences across the globe. The Baltimore Sun recently proclaimed, “Peled’s amiable and inviting personality is exactly the type everyone says we'll need more of if classical music is to survive!”
Founder and Artistic Director of the Mount Vernon Virtuosi, Mr. Peled combines a growing conducting schedule, while continuing a thriving solo career performing on the historic 1733 Gofriller Pablo Casals cello personally handed to him by Marta Casals Istomin, and his professorship at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
In his continued quest to make classical music more accessible, Mr. Peled recently published a children’s book A Cello Named Pablo and released a new cello technique method book The First Hour.

Youth Conservatory Christmas Recital
