Swim Angelfish Adaptive Private Lessons
Sample Bike

Swim Angelfish

Purpose:
Swim Angelfish swim lessons are specifically designed to help children overcome the 14 most commonly seen roadblocks in teaching children with Autism, sensory and motor coordination issues how to become safe independent swimmers. The instructors are trained to integrate strategies into a typical swim lesson so the child learns to swim faster and with less discomfort than traditional swim methods.

 Outcomes/Benefits:

Understanding the properties of the water and the science behind why a child seeks underwater. For example, the hydrostatic pressure of the water offers their body the deep pressure to satiate their central nervous system and helps them maintain attention to the lesson. The strategy of allowing opportunity to safely submerge several times during a 30 minute swim lesson in order for the child to maintain an organized state for learning to swim is a great example of our methodology. Children learn safe ritual and routine to improve safety awareness in and around all bodies of water.

Length:

8 30-minute lessons

Cost:
$100

Instructor:
Current authorized Water Safety instructor and certified Swim Angelfish Instructor

Because of the special certifications this program requires, we must have individuals request a Swim Angelfish Instructor to make sure that we have an instructor available.

Please email the Aquatics Coordinator to request a Swim Angelfish adaptive private lesson. We look forward to finding an instructor that is right for you!

Scout Merit Badges (Bundle)

Swimming & Lifesaving Merit Badge Bundle

Swimming Merit Badge:
Swimming is a leisure activity, a competitive sport, and a basic survival skill. Scouts who earn this badge will learn about safety when swimming and diving, how swimming can contribute to overall fitness and health, and gain some basic competitive swimming skills

Lifesaving Merit Badge:
No Boy Scout will ignore a plea for help. However, the desire to help is of little use unless one knows how to give the proper aid. The main purpose of the Lifesaving merit badge is to prepare Scouts to assist those involved in water accidents, teaching them the basic knowledge of rescue techniques, the skills to perform them, and the judgment to know when and how to act so that they can be prepared for emergencies.
