FEMA Cost Tracking

Based upon guidance from the state of Utah and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), USU must track all labor costs and materials consumed in the university’s preparation for and mitigation of COVID-19. This will allow USU and the state of Utah the ability to seek some reimbursement for costs related to this emergency.

Please track time and material costs dating back to March 9, 2020 through the present.

Who Should Track Expenses

Employees, including faculty, should track time spent in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including time spent moving classes online, in meetings addressing challenges related to the virus, and time working with employees or students on related issues, as well as other activities.

How to Track Costs

Use Service Now to report hours worked and materials consumed in our response to COVID-19. For some employees, this step may be duplicative, and we acknowledge that, but given the fluidity of the situation, it is essential for USU to capture your contribution. We recommend employees record labor hours on a daily basis and material consumption at least weekly.
