Exposure Guidelines

If you were exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 or have been told by a healthcare provider or public health authority that you were exposed, here are the steps that you should take, regardless of your vaccination status or previous infection.

If You Were Exposed to Someone with COVID-19

  • Wear a high-quality mask around others for 10 days, in your home or in public. Do not go places where you cannot wear a mask.
  • Watch for symptoms for 10 days, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath. If you develop symptoms, follow isolation guidelines and get tested.
  • If you don’t have symptoms, get tested 5 days after your exposure. If you test positive, follow isolation guidelines.
