New Student Admission Requirements
Testing out of CS 1400
Students may take the CS 1400 Challenge Exam to receive credit for CS 1400. This provides students who already have a background in programming an option to begin with courses at their level of experience.
Admission Criteria for Computer Science Majors
Student Status | CS Program Status | Acceptance Criteria |

New Freshmen with math assessment | Admissible to the CS pre-professional program, as long as all acceptance criteria is met. |

New Freshmen without math assessment | Not admissible to CS. |
Students with no math assessment, such as ACT or SAT scores, must take USU's ALEX Math Placement exam to determine math readiness. Students must place into MATH 1050 - College Algebra, at a minimum, to be admitted. Additionally these students must meet the following criteria:

Transfer students with MATH 1210 (Calculus I) prerequisites, or higher | Admissible to CS pre-professional program, as long as all acceptance criteria is met. |

Transfer students without MATH 1210 (Calculus I) prerequisites | Not admissible to CS. |
