Theatre Arts

This is a stand alone associate degree, offered only on the USU Eastern campus, designed with the student experience in mind. This degree will provide the student with performance training and technical experience to enter the entertainment industry or continue their education and training at a four year institution such as USU.

This degree focuses on a general training in all areas of theatre with courses in performance techniques such as auditions, acting styles, script analysis, and stage makeup. Along with technical production training in stage lighting, sound reinforcement, stagecraft, stage management and scene painting. Students who complete the course work for this associate of arts degree will also come away with direct hands on training and experience in all aspects of theatre production and performance.


An associate degree in Theatre Arts may lead to the following careers:

  • Stage crew
  • Lighting technician
  • Sound technician
  • Stage manager
  • Actor

Admission Requirements

USU Eastern is an open admission campus. Scholarships are available for all students at the campus and department levels. Department scholarships are awarded based on audition or interview requirements. Deadlines and requirements for admission and scholarships are as listed in USU catalogs and websites.
