Educational Background
Biography
I discovered geology when attending college near where I grew up in the flat, cornfield landscapes of rural Minnesota. After gaining work experience in environmental remediation, I pilgrimaged to the canyon landscapes of the Southwest for graduate school. My entire academic career has been at Utah State University, teaching geomorphology and other courses, mentoring a score of graduate students and many undergraduate researchers, and serving as the Department Head of Geosciences.
Research Interests
My interests are understanding the landscape evolution and surface processes of the Interior Western U.S., connecting people to those landscapes, and contributing to sustainability through geoscience.
