The Residence Life Program is happy to announce that we have opened our application for the Resident Assistant and Residence Hall Association Executive positions (view job description) for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. For more information all interested parties can attend a Virtual Information Session on Zoom held on the following dates and times:

  1. Complete the required University Application

Minimum Requirements for Resident Assistants

  • Full-time USU Student Status
    • All RA candidates and current RAs must be full-time USU students
    • Full-time status is defined as 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester or 6 graduate credit hours per semester
  • Minimum GPA Requirement
    • All RA candidates and current RAs are required to maintain a semester and cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5. After one semester of failure to meet academic performance standards, RAs will be placed on job probation. Two consecutive semesters of a GPA below 2.5 will affect continued employability or rehire status
    • All RHA Executive candidates and current Executives are required to maintain a semester and cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0. After one semester of failure to meet academic performance standards, RHA Executives will be placed on job probation. Two consecutive semesters of a GPA below 3.0 will affect continued employability or rehire status
  • Family Housing RA Applicants must:
    • Qualify to live in family housing
      • Legally married
      • Have children
      • Married with children
    • If married, both spouses in a marriage must apply and be employed together due to resident confidentiality concerns

The timeline for our selection process will be as follows:

  • Applications are due by Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 11:59pm.
  • Depending on the number of applicants, a cut based on application materials may occur.
  • Applicants moving on to the next step will sign up for a day to complete a Group Interview Process using a link sent to them via email.  These Group Interviews will be held on February 8-13, 2021.
  • After group interviews, a cut will take place based on evaluations of the applicants during group interviews.  Invitations to personal interviews will be sent out by Friday, February 19, 2021.
  • There will be a meet and greet event held on Thursday, February 22, 2021 for applicants to get to know the supervisors and current RA staff members.
  • Personal interviews will be held February 23-26, 2021.
  • After personal interviews, offers will be sent to applicants for RA positions or to be placed on an alternates list by Monday, March 1, 2021. All placed applicants will be assigned a current staff mentor to complete job shadowing from March 9-April 21, 2021.
  • Staff orientation meetings will be held in mid-April based on availability of the staff for the next year.
  • All staff for the 2021-2022 academic year will be able to complete online training at their own pace through Canvas during the summer of 2021.
  • All staff will report for Fall Training to begin their positions for the academic year on Saturday, August 15, 2021.  Fall Training is scheduled every day August 16-30, 2021.

All Residence Life employees are responsible reporter employees and are expected to report on Title IX, Clery Act, and Discrimination incidents they become aware of.
