ResidenT Assistant application


The Residence Life Program is happy to announce that we have opened our application for the Resident Assistant positions (view job description) for the 2019-2020 Academic Year. For more information all interested parties can attend an Information Session held on the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 8:00pm in the Living Learning Community Multi-Purpose Room
  • Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 6:00pm in the TSC Auditorium (2nd floor of the TSC)
  • Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 8:30pm in the Central Suites Multi-Purpose Room
  • Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 8:00pm in the Conference Room in the Lundstrom Student Center (1295 E. 1000 N.)
  • Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 8:00pm in the Aggie Village Community Center
  • Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 8:00pm in the Merrill Hall 2nd floor lounge
  • Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 8:00pm in the Blue Square Banquet Room (Blue Square Building A)

Minimum Requirements

  • Full-time USU Student Status
    • All RA candidates and current RAs must be full-time USU students
    • Full-time status is defined as 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester or 6 graduate credit hours per semester
  • Maintain 2.5 GPA
    • All RA candidates and current RAs are required to maintain a semester and cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5. After one semester of failure to meet academic performance standards, RAs will be placed on job probation. Two consecutive semesters of a GPA below 2.5 will affect continued employability or rehire status
  • Family Housing Applicants must:
    • Qualify to live in family housing
      • Legally married
      • Have children
      • Married with children
    • If married, both spouses in a marriage apply and be employed together

The timeline for our selection process will be as follows:

  • Applications are due by Sunday, January 13, 2020 at 11:59pm.
  • Depending on the number of applicants, a cut based on application materials may occur.
  • Applicants moving on to the next step will sign up for a day to complete a Group Interview Process using a link sent to them via email.  These Group Interviews will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 6:00-9:00pm and Saturday, February 1, 2020 9:00am-12:00pm.
  • After Group Interviews a cut take place based on evaluations of the applicants during Group Interviews.  Invitations to Personal Interviews held February 17-21, 2020 will be sent out by Friday, February 7, 2020.
  • There will be a Meet and Greet event held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 for applicants to get to know the supervisors and current RA staff members.
  • After Personal Interviews offers will be sent to applicants for RA positions or to be placed on an Alternates List by Monday, February 24, 2020.  All placed applicants will be assigned a current staff mentor to complete job shadowing from March 9-April 1, 2020.
  • Staff Orientation Meetings will be held in Mid-April based on availability of the staff for the next year.
  • All staff for the 2020-2021 academic year will be able to complete online trainings at their own pace through Canvas during the summer of 2020.
  • All staff will report for Fall Training to begin their positions for the academic year on Saturday, August 15, 2020.  Fall Training is scheduled every day August 16-30, 2020.

All Residence Life Employees are Responsible Reporter Employees and are expected to report on Title IX, Clery Act, and Discrimination incidents they become aware of.

Residence Hall Association Executive Council Application

A Residence Hall Association Executive Council Member is  a student leadership position within Residence Life.  This position requires that they live in a specific area of our on Campus Housing. A specific area will be assigned after hiring takes place. This position works with students and residents to develop a Student Leadership Council with in a specific community. These Student Leadership councils focus on leadership development, large scale event planning, electing student leaders to represent area community, as well as advocating for change. This position will also act as a student advisor to this leadership group.

This position will also sit on our Residence Hall Association Executive Council and work with a team of 5 other student advisors who represent all of our different housing communities. The Executive team will work together to develop large scale campus wide initiatives and events that promote student engagement, diversity, and inclusion.

This job is a fast paced, upbeat, nonstop student leadership position that will work to develop students and help them have the best on campus experience possible.  To apply please:
