on Utah’s Land, Water, and Air

 

Introduction

Utah State University’s Janet Quinney Lawson Institute for Land, Water, and Air focuses on convening the right stakeholders to better understand daunting challenges facing Utah. We welcome the input and partnership of local government policymakers, state agencies, industry and community innovators, nonprofits, elected officials, and our colleagues at other institutions of higher education. Together, in a collective approach, Utah can position itself to best address complicated problems.

Executive Research Summary

This report serves as a 2025 snapshot of key issues and concerns regarding Utah’s natural resources that affect current and future quality of life, industry, and security. It highlights a collection of data and research that is available to provide context to these issues. Addressing these challenges will enable Utah policymakers to make informed decisions across this state’s varied landscapes, water basins, air sheds, and energy grids.
